20 years. Dedicated to providing an unparalleled experience of this
pristine, year-round destination – one of the happiest places in the
world – Amankora’s five lodges are each a sanctuary designed to
complement its uniquely beautiful setting, offer a circuit of Himalayan
sanctuaries, inviting guests to embark on a multi-destination itinerary
through the Kingdom of Bhutan. Guests can choose a journey entailing all
or a combination of Amankora’s lodges, with a variety of adventures
available to explore.
🟡 Sample Itinerary
1 night at Amankora Thimphu, 2 nights at Amankora Punakha, 2 nights at Amankora Paro
▪️ Day 1 – Arrival in Paro → Amankora Thimphu
Upon landing at Paro International Airport, you are met by your private guide and driver for the scenic transfer to Amankora Thimphu (approximately 1–1.5 hours). Settle into your lodge set in the forested Motithang area. In the afternoon, explore Bhutan’s unique capital — a city without traffic lights. Possible visits include the Folk Heritage Museum, Textile Museum, National Memorial Chorten, and a weaving centre or paper factory for an introduction to traditional crafts. Evening at leisure at the lodge. Overnight: Amankora Thimphu
▪️Day 2 – Thimphu → Amankora Punakha
After breakfast, depart for Punakha Valley. En route stop at Simtokha Dzong (Bhutan’s first fortress monastery) and cross the spectacular Dochula Pass (3,050 m) with its 108 memorial chortens and panoramic Himalayan views (weather permitting). Descend into the warmer, subtropical Punakha Valley. Arrive at Amankora Punakha (reached via a picturesque suspension bridge). Enjoy a traditional farmhouse lunch, then visit Chimi Lhakhang, the famous 15th-century fertility temple. Overnight: Amankora Punakha
▪️Day 3 – Full day in Punakha Valley
Morning hike through rice paddies and farmlands to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, a beautifully crafted monument built by the Queen Mother, offering excellent valley views. Afternoon visit to the magnificent Punakha Dzong (one of Bhutan’s most beautiful fortresses), set at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Cross its traditional cantilever bridge and, if desired, walk the nearby longest suspension bridge. Return to the lodge for relaxation, spa time, or archery (Bhutan’s national sport). Overnight: Amankora Punakha
▪️Day 4 – Punakha → Amankora Paro
Scenic drive back toward Paro Valley (approximately 4–5 hours). Upon arrival at Amankora Paro, nestled in a blue-pine forest, enjoy lunch at the lodge. Afternoon exploration of Paro Valley highlights: Kyichu Lhakhang (one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples), Paro Rinpung Dzong, and the National Museum housed in the former watchtower (Ta Dzong). Optional evening activity such as a prayer-flag printing demonstration or a Gross National Happiness talk. Overnight: Amankora Paro
▪️Day 5 – Tiger’s Nest & Paro
Early start for the signature hike to Taktsang Goemba (Tiger’s Nest Monastery), dramatically perched on a cliff face at approximately 2,950 m. The round-trip hike typically takes 4–5 hours and is one of Bhutan’s most iconic experiences. Return to the lodge for lunch and recovery time. Afternoon at leisure — perhaps a gentle walk, visit to Paro old town, or simply enjoy the serene pine-forest setting of the lodge. Overnight: Amankora Paro
▪️Day 6 – Departure
After breakfast, private transfer to Paro International Airport (approximately 30 minutes) for your departure flight.
